Being an American is an “IDEA.”
The question: I wasn’t born an “American.” Years ago, in 5th grade, when I was a boy, I made myself a choice to become an “American.” Being an “American” is an idea rooted in a particular form of “privileges.” One of the GREATEST “American” is “Henry Kissinger.” Mr. Kissinger wasn’t born an “American,” but German, and just like me, he made himself to become an “American” and was one of the greatest “German-American” in U.S. and world’s history, so as Albert Einstein, etc. Being an “American” is an idea, just like being a “Liberian,” of which, of course, has never been one because Liberia’s past and current government never understood the significance of being one of the “First Black Republics” in the world. So, some of those comedians put foreigners first than the people of their country.
An American is an idea rooted in a social construct, so as being anything else. Being an American doesn’t make me lesser “Liberian,” and so as being a “Liberian” doesn’t make me “lesser-American.” America had given me everything, Liberia, on the other hand, just birthed me. It has birthed many without providing them immeasurable opportunities, but with the constant support of a few corrupt bunches that continue to strangle the country’s progress. MADNESS, if you asked me.
