Charles W. Brumskine: What was his message?

The Hebrews believed that “it’s appointed unto a man once to die, and after death, judgment.” Three factors determine our life.

  1. It’s not what we said on stage, but how we lived.
  2. It’s not about the times we fell but how we woke up.
  3. What’s the message after death?

I met you as a boy in Little Rock, and when you spoke on stage, I saw a man with dreams.

You never live to realize your dreams, but it’s okay.

You never live to become “President,” but it’s okay.

Looking at past pictures, you didn’t feel well throughout the past campaign, and the court process, for justice and fair play, but you fought. Most didn’t like the idea, but you stood your ground and fought. In death, you show us that justice is not a “Congau” or “Native” thing, but should be a “Liberian virtue.”

The message to young Liberians: Never give up, in what you believe, even in illness or good health. Most of the Heroes and Patriots of Revolutions are gone to their graves with glory, not too soon, but it was meant to be. Such then were the civil virtues of this…
