I am the poor child that survived April 6.
I am the Liberian bearing war’s scars.
I am the refugee driven from my homeland,
I am the Liberian immigrant

living the American dream with the hope I seek

And finding only the same old plan of the Americo system that exists

I am the young Liberian man, that’s sometimes hopeless,

But still, I accept and rise above it all
Because my struggle today, does not define my tomorrow

I am the student, always leaving room to learn.

I am the average poor Liberian worker,

victim of the system and held in bondage

by government corrupt practices

I am the Native, servant to the Americos.
I am the people of Liberia, humble,

hungry, angry, but still exist

I am a Liberian, strong and powerful
I am the man who will bring about some sanity,

The poorest Liberian worker

faced extreme struggle through the years.

Great oppression and poverty
I am the man with the great words that hit home
I am just a Liberian with a dream.
