If You Are Going To Travel To Look Down On The People Stay The F**K At Home!

Despite being a Liberian-American myself, I think that some Westerners are among the most arrogant people on earth. Is it because of something most of us aren’t even aware of? During my travels to a few countries, I met folks from all over, especially what is deemed the Western world, and you would think they traveled to those countries to love and appreciate the cultures. Oh, hell no.

Some Western Travelers have this deep-seated, unconscious belief that being a Westerner is the primary state of human essence and English is the only language that is not foreign in foreign countries. So foreign, that is, in absolute terms, and, in some of their minds, it is the essential nature of language. All other languages are deviations from it and, therefore, foreign. How stupid can one be to think in this sense that the world should selfishly evolve around you? How absurd can one be to look down on other cultures when visiting their countries, especially when you don’t have a ‘culture’?
