Talks With The Distant 🇺🇸 Relatives 🇱🇷

Yesterday, I was able to educate a few kids about “Liberia 🇱🇷” and you should have seen the smile on these young African-American brothers’ faces. One said, “I didn’t know that we created a country in West Africa, and why they don’t teach these things in our schools?” I was trying to figure out ways to answer his question but was choked up. And then I came up with a sound response and said “Bruh, when your distant cousins, aunties, etc., were sent to Liberia, Washington’s Republicans neglected them and did not even recognize them as a country until after 20 years. It was Britain 🇬🇧 that recognized Liberia as a free nation before Lincoln and Washington followed.

African-Americans in Liberia.

Now, your history books said ‘Abe, freed the slaves but didn’t go in detail, know why? Abe’s motives of freeing ‘Black people’ was not because he felt for them but to send them back to ‘Liberia,’ because in his little mind at the time, he felt that Blacks will always be inferior to Whites! To come to think about it, it was disgusting then coming from a president and disgusting now, looking at some of those behaviors in Donald Trump and his supporters!!” One kid followed, “Thanks for the enlightenment, I’ve seen that flag so many times and would ask, ‘why does it look like the United States’ flag with just one star? But, now, I know. Knowing is powerful, sir!! Thanks, again!!”
