The White Savior Mentality.

“Oh, the people in Asia, Latin America, and Africa are impoverished as compared to us, in the West; we must save them and bring them back to civilization.”- The Savior. Well, we’ve all seen the white-savior analogy in TV commercials, Hollywood Films, etc.: the well-intentioned, charitable, and kind-hearted white person comes and saves poor Africa, or perhaps somewhere in Asia, the needy people of color who are desperate for sustenance. Does this sound familiar?
