Sex is a fundamental aspect of human nature, yet it remains a topic of silence and discomfort for many. No one got here through some form of magic. Your parents fell in love and removed their clothes to express those affections and boom! That’s how you, me and everyone else got here. So why do people don’t talk about sex? Society has long perpetuated a culture of secrecy around discussing sex, leaving individuals uninformed, isolated, and unable to explore their desires and needs fully. So what are the reasons behind this silence and the potential detrimental effects it can have on our personal and societal well-being?

1. Cultural Taboos:

One of the primary reasons for the lack of open discourse about sex is deeply rooted cultural taboos. Throughout history, societies have grappled with varying degrees of prudishness, often associating discussions on sex with immorality, shame, or indecency. These cultural norms can make it challenging for individuals to engage in open conversations, leading to a perpetuation of silence.

These taboos have surrounded stereotypes to shame those who dare engage in what I call the silence talks. There are stereotypes of those who dare crosses those boundaries, from “man whore,” to sluts, etc. The question is, “Why do we even shame people for what we do?”
