What’s Art? 🎨 🖌️ 🖼️

The definition of art is provocative in contemporary philosophy. Whether art can be defined has also been a subject of controversy. The philosophical value of a definition of art has also been questioned. Art has a self-translation. It is whatever you make of it.

Like Plato, Aristotle thought that art involved imitation. The impressionists are the transitional structures between the epoch of imitation and the period of Modernism; Danto calls this the Age of Manifestos. For Freud, it was based upon a material and not the absolute world that is sequentially real. Hegel said “art expresses the spirit of a particular culture.” Hume saw art as the sentiment of beauty that requires “a delicate imagination.” Hutcheson saw art as the relative beauty. Kant said that this beauty should be “a question merely of the form.” For me, art is not “objectification” of women, like the ones you see in modern Music Videos, TV Shows, Movies, etc.

Art is a living spirit of expression that doesn’t just live for the moment but lives forever. Art is not vulgar. Art is…
