WILL SMITH’S VIOLENCE IN THE NAME OF PROFESSING LOVE.

Congratulations to Will Smith for winning an Oscar last night, the brotha deserves it. But, how can we justify “VIOLENCE,” in the name of professing LOVE? LOVE is not shadowed by violence. Denzel reminded him, “At your highest moment, be careful. That’s when the devil comes for you.” Privacy is something Will doesn’t have in his love life. He constantly invites the devil and the devil is always in his household. Privacy is important and it’s something that Will can learn from Denzel.

Without privacy, we exposed our lives to the world, for everyone to have something to say. We opened ourselves to vulnerabilities, constant criticisms, etc. And, we must be prepared for the show and deal with the world. Will’s approach was wrong and I know that everyone has their input about, “What is right or wrong?” Violence is not right and it should never be justified to profess love. It begets violence.

In his acceptance speech Will spoke of being a vehicle of love and peace. Wisdom is thinking before we act, that way we would never have to embarrass ourselves, our friends, and our families in front of the world. But, no one will ever come to understand, when he/she has never walked a day in another man/woman’s shoes. Will’s actions should never be justified especially when he’s a symbol of our culture.
